Marine Current Foundation - Methil to Belfast
Henry Abram & Son Ltd were contracted at very short notice to transport 1 off Quadrapod Foundation, 4 off Quadrapod Shoes & 4 off piles from Methil to Belfast. The weight of the Quadrapod Foundation was 110.0 Te, the shoes each 26.2 Te. HASL chartered M.V. Vitali Kozhin for this shipment; this vessel was ideal as she had a forward Superstructure allowing stowage on deck of the large Quadrapod and shoes.
The Quadrapod 4 legs were at different heights, 4 off timber packs supporting each leg were pre-laid on the vessel deck, securing of the Quarapod was by means of chains & bottlescrews. Vessel securing points were also utilised and D rings were also welded to assist securing. The Shoes were landed to dunnage and secured by welded blockers.
HASL were responsible for chartering a suitable vessel, preparing a Transportation Manual detailing the stowage, Securing Plan and Deck Strength Calculations. HASL also provided a Marine Superintendent for the loading and securing of the cargo.
