Project Management - Towheads
Henry Abram & Sons Ltd. (HASL) were contracted to supply a transport solution along with all relevant documentation for the shipment of 5 off Towheads from Invergordon to Wick. The Towheads were then transported by road from Wick to Subsea7's Wester Site. 1 off Towhead weighed 228Te and 4 off Towheads weighed 50Te.
HASL were responsible for vessel supply and all aspects of loading the cargo, seafastening, sea transport Invergordon to Wick, discharge and road transport Wick to Wester.
HASL chartered a suitable barge and produced stowage and securing plans. The cargo was loaded at Invergordon using a mobile crane. Seagoing forces were calculated from first principles and used to design the seafastenings. The Towheads were secured by means of chains and welded blockers. The 228Te Towhead was discharged by roll off. The 4 off 50Te Towheads were discharged by mobile crane. All Towheads were then transported to the Wester site by road. The 228Te Tohead was then jacked and skidded into its final location while the 4 off 50Te Towheads were installed using a mobile crane.
HASL were also responsible for Marine Superintendence during the load-out/discharge and worked closely with the client to ensure that everything went to plan on the day.
