Project Management - Total Jura

Henry Abram & Sons Ltd. (HASL) were contracted by SUBSEA 7 to carry out the ‘Turnkey Contract’ transportation of the ‘Jura Towhead’ from point of manufacture (Nigg) to installed on tracks at Subsea 7’s Wester facility north of Wick.

With overall dimensions of 42m x 8.3m x 8.5m and a transport weight of 460 Te the Jura Towhead called for a complete deviation from previous towhead deliveries to Wester. This one was going to have to go in over the beach.

HASL’s scope of work was to include:

Provision of specialist heavy lift ro/ro vessel (Multi Purpose Pontoon ‘Terra Marique’ was sub-contracted).

Provision of Self Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT’s)

Engineering of loadout and seafastening of towhead onboard Terra Marique

Design of suitable beach-head and causeway from low water mark up and into Wester Site

Delivery of Jura Towhead on to stools over launchway tracks

Jack down of the towhead onto the launchway tracks

Attendance, management & control of all aspects.
