Henry Abram and Sons awarded £85 million contract

HENRY ABRAM & SONS are delighted to announce that they have been awarded a Royal Navy £85 million contract. In effect HENRY ABRAM & SONS will be responsible for the engineering, project management and shipping of the hull and superstructure for the Aircraft Carrier in large blocks and unit component parts from all nominated fabrication yards around the UK to Rosyth. HENRY ABRAM & SONS have worked very well with BAE for many years on past MOD projects and are delighted to be working with BAE once again on the Aircraft Carrier Project.

Due to the demands of the project HENRY ABRAM & SONS are looking to employ Naval Architects, Structural engineers, design engineers and graduates.

This project will be challenging and HENRY ABRAM & SONS together with its consortium partners Malin Marine Consultants, Anchor Marine Transportation Limited and Abnormal Load Engineering Limited are intent on a safe and successful delivery of all cargoes to Rosyth.

Jim Murphy Secretary of state for Scotland commented on the announcements by saying "This latest news underlines the importance of the UK defence industry to Scotland and how the MOD's shipbuilding programme in Scotland underpins real jobs, real apprenticeships and real future; one that is only possible because of our place in the U.K. The first vessel due to be completed in 2016 will be capable of carrying up to 40 aircraft."

HENRY ABRAM & SONS will be posting regular updates within their news section covering the Aircraft carrier project.
